The recap

A disappointing loss at OJG, in a game full of controversy from the opening puck drop.

A disappointing loss, and a game that was mired in controversy from the drop of the puck. The penalty box got busy right away: four minors in the first period, two on each side, and nobody scored. OJG broke through in the second at 9:11 and 0:55 left, then made it 3-0 early in the 3rd at 14:43 left. The turning point was at 8:28 left in the 3rd, when Julia C. (#21) was given a cross-checking major and a game misconduct, which ended her night and left us playing a major shorthanded while down three. Claire S. (#10) and Maddie G. (#44) each went to the box after that, so we spent most of the last eight minutes killing penalties. To the team's credit, we kept working. Everly R. (#29) got us on the board with 1:42 left, with the assist from Emma J. (#14). Final: OJG 3, Biggby Black 1. Penalties on the score sheet: Biggby Black four minors plus the major and game misconduct, OJG three minors. We faced 33 shots and Makayla T. (#5) turned away 30 of them. Next up is Sunday at home against St. Clair Shores. This result is unofficial until the league finalizes the score sheet.
