Oct 25 · 3-3 MidlandOct 22 · 3-3 HB GoldA good penalty kill is four skaters moving as one: a tight box, sticks in the lanes, and a first clear that actually leaves the zone instead of getting thrown around the boards. If the first clear works, the other team has to start the whole power play over. We went 5 for 5 on the kill against St. Clair Shores.
Next time we are a player down, watch the first clear. Did it leave the zone, or did they get a second chance?

Oct 2–4: four games at Big Bear Arena in Sault Ste. Marie to open the season. We went 2-2, with both wins over the OJG, and scored 6 goals: Julia C. (#21) had 3, with Maddie G. (#44), Violet G. (#6) and Emma J. (#14) adding one each. Huge thanks to team manager Heather Corcoran for making all the arrangements so the team could focus on hockey.
Goals, assists and points from the eight games with GameSheet score sheets. Makayla T. (#5) has been in net for every one of them.
